Supermarket probe heads north
Independent shopkeepers, farmers and growers in Scotland are giving evidence to the Competition Commission's review into the power of the supermarkets.
The Commission, which is investigating the supermarket sector for the third time in seven years, is spending two days in Edinburgh gathering evidence, the BBC reported.
Farmers claim the supermarkets buy their milk at 18p a litre - less than it takes to produce - then sell it on for 50p a litre, while the Scottish Grocers Federation says supermarkets sell beer at less than wholesale prices as a loss leader.
