New challenge for BlackBerry
BlackBerry's dominance as the portable e-mail device of choice could be challenged by a consortium of technology companies determined to grab a slice of the market.
Vodafone, Microsoft and Palm are hoping the Treo - a touch-screen mobile phone with e-mail, the Internet and multimedia content all in one place - will attract more business users.
Palm spokesman Ed Colligan told The Guardian: "We are confident that we can captivate mobile professionals and businesses, and help them be more productive in the office and on the go."
