A taste of success
It would seem Cornwall's the place to go for your summer holiday - and the place to be if you're thinking of starting up a business to take advantage of the tourist boom.
Tourism accounts for 25% of the Cornish economy compared to an average of 4% elsewhere in the UK, even though Cornwall is classed as Britain's poorest county.
The number of tourists visiting Cornwall grew from 3.4 million in 1992 to 5.1 million in 2002.
And according to the BBC, one of the key reasons for the revival is food. It points to the dominance of TV chef Rick Stein in Padstow, while Jamie Oliver has recently opened a restaurant in the county and four Gordon Ramsey protégés have also headed west from their base in London.
