Banking on a change

The big banks are being criticised for their service - or lack of it.

uSwitch, the comparison website, has commissioned a survey of 15,000 customers to see what they really think of their banks and the service they provide. Each bank will be given a percentage rating which will appear on the website's bank comparison ratings.

But the British Bankers Association (BBA) says people are wrong if they automatically assume that banks don't have their customers' best interests at heart.

Spokesman Brian Capon told the Times Online:

"If anyone is unhappy with the service they get, they should tell their bank.

"Senior managers take complaints seriously because the only way they can retain customers in such a competitive industry is to deal with any problems."
