A taste of the Caribbean
Family recipes are helping a Jamaican-born entrepreneur keep the top spot in Britain's "pattie" market.
Wade Lyn, who runs Cleone Foods, sells more of the traditional Jamaican snack - a pastry crust filled with meat or fish, vegetables and Caribbean spices - than any other firm in the UK.
His Island Delight brand is available at most of the big supermarkets and he has a 55% share of the pattie market.
Wade, who came to the West Midlands from Jamaica as a teenager, set up his company in 1988.
He told icBirmingham:
"I regularly returned to Jamaica and spent time with my mother and also Aunt Dell, who ran the small bakery in my home town."Aunt Dell helped me develop new fillings that were popular in Jamaica and I still ring her now. It has always been really important to me that Island Delight patties remain authentic."
