The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) says it'll arrange the placements for any MPs who want them.

It reckons that giving politicians a direct insight into the life of a small venture will lead to a "lighter regulatory touch".

Carol Undy, FSB National Chairman, said:

“It is quite obvious that many MPs are not aware of the issues that affect business and their ability to sustain economic growth and employment.

"The nature of a large amount of legislation affecting business clearly demonstrates this lack of understanding."

The FSB says that the average small business owner spends around 28 hours every month filling in forms.
