Trojan hides in anti-spyware e-mail
Beware of an e-mail doing the rounds that purports to be from a security software company - but actually contains a Trojan Horse virus.
The e-mail supposedly comes from a genuine company called SpysoftCentral. It says it's confirming a subscription and has charged the victim's credit card £79.39.
The e-mail is accompanied by an attachment which claims to be a detailed receipt but is actually the Trojan, which is downloaded when the attachment is opened.
James Kay from BlackSpider Technologies told Computeractive:
"This is not the first time virus writers have used PC users' anxiety over spyware to entice them to open a malicious attachment."As far as social engineering goes, I wouldn't be surprised at all if lots of people were duped by this ploy."
