Softly, softly
An entrepreneur has come up with a device that removes limescale and softens water without filters or chemicals.
The Oasis water conditioning system uses ultrasound waves to clear limescale. Inventor Tony Allen used a similar device to clear beer pipes while working in the pub trade.
He told icBirmingham:
"I always thought the principle had far greater potential. I started with a simple cleaning system to unblock pipes, but its greatest potential is softening water and eliminating limescale problems."
He has now patented the device and has set up Waterite UK to exploit his invention, which he hopes will scoop the Midlands-based Best Business Innovation Awards 2006. The winner will receive help in marketing their idea.
