It's a family affair
Family ownership of businesses is being threatened - because people are living longer.
That's according to the newly set up Scottish Family Business Association(SFBA), which says there are plenty of conflicts caused by the older generation refusing to give way to their children.
And when they do eventually call it quits, there is still the potential for confusion among staff if the old boss continues to 'pop in' occasionally.
The SFBA reckons a code of practice for handing over family businesses might do the trick, without having to resort to legislation or litigation, The Scotsman reported.
