Beware bogus bills
Watch your accounts over the summer months - because the scammers are targeting small businesses when they think key staff may be on holiday.
Bogus invoices are being sent out when the con-artists reckon that they won't be queried by the boss.
Sally Longworth, from accountants Grant Thornton, told the Manchester Evening News:
"It's relatively easy to produce a fake invoice, be it for Internet business directories, stationery or cleaning services, which most businesses require."In the absence of management, there is an increased risk that these will be paid, unchallenged."
