Lessons in entrepreneurship

The next generation of entrepreneurs is receiving lessons in business at school.

The Government is spending £180 million over three years to teach 14 to 16-year-olds a spirit of entrepreneurship.

Each school must devote five days to enterprise education in order to receive its share of the money. But there are concerns about the way pupils are being taught.

Kevin Steele from Enterprise Insight told the Times Online:

"The education system is not aligned to the sorts of things employers want, nor the things future employees and entrepreneurs will need to succeed.

"Employers want people who are good at working in teams with problem-solving and communication skills, but education today is all about logic, structure, rules, standards, written communication and working on your own."
