Iron gets masculine facelift

A student is aiming to get more men behind the ironing board, with a gadget she's designed.

Mary Hackney, a student at Coventry University, has simply made the humble iron more masculine.

As well as the look of the iron, which comes complete with boyish 'go faster' stripes, she has made the handles and dials bigger, so they fit larger male hands.

Mary said:

"Both men and women complained about the boredom of ironing, but men in particular complained more that the ‘tool’ wasn’t suited to them.

"I can’t make the job of ironing any more appealing, but my new design has solved many of the problems which were reported by men during the research."
