Beware Japanese virus
Microsoft is preparing to release an early patch for a vulnerability in its Word program.
Businesses are being warned to beware of the trojan horse Backdoor.Ginwui virus, which gets into PCs through e-mails with an attached Japanese Word document.
Microsoft is now considering bringing forward a patch, due to have been released in mid-June, the BBC has reported.
The software giant is telling users not to open or save Word files from unknown sources. It says people should also beware of opening attachments from friends and colleagues that they're not expecting.
The virus exploits vulnerabilities in Microsoft Word 2002 and 2003.
