Beating the estate agent's fees

A Scottish couple have come up with an innovative way to get around the time-consuming, slow and expensive process of selling a property via the traditional channels.

Instead of paying estate agents' fees and waiting for viewings and mortgages to be arranged, they're raffling their Edinburgh flat. 50,000 tickets are available for a cost of £5 each, netting the couple a cool £250,000 if they're all sold, and giving one lucky winner the chance to get on the property ladder for less than the price of a tin of paint.

The website where all this is happening is located at www.winourflat.com, and offers the same sort of pictures and descriptions that you'd see on an estate agent's site.
