Business piracy on the increase
Business software bootleggers are getting away without paying for around £1 billion of intellectual property every year.
The figure - which is only for the UK - comes from the Business Software Alliance. It says around a quarter of software used by UK businesses has been copied illegally. It reckons that international software piracy cost £18 billion last year.
Spokeswoman Siobhan Carroll said:
"Lack of respect for intellectual property in the form of software piracy is having a hugely detrimental effect on the IT industry, and we hope the Government continues to push for tougher enforcement measures."
