Beware dodgy sites
Visiting websites that you've found via a search engine doesn't mean they're safe, according to a new survey that's found the leading search engines do direct users to dodgy websites.
Users downloaded spyware, and had their e-mail addresses put on spam lists when they used sites they had found via the top five search engines - Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask and AOL.
The study, by anti-spyware software firm SiteAdvisor, said:
"Users should be careful where they go and what they do when choosing sites based on search engine results. Users can't count on search engines to protect them."
