Here are two new sites that are worth a visit. They're typical of a new breed of website, in the sense that the user has the freedom to personalise their pages and build on what other people do.

• Windows Live (in Beta) combines the MSN search engine with newsfeeds, weather forecasts, e-mail and messenger. Microsoft encourages you to make use of 'gadgets' - snippets of code which provide extra services such as a music player.
• Foldera is altogether more businesslike, but it's so new it hasn't even been launched yet. Nonetheless, nearly half a million people have signed up, proving that there's a demand for the services it offers. Its key selling point is organising everything from e-mails to projects, documents and tasks.
